„I’m looking forward to the cross season“

NOVEMBER 03 2009

Hello dear friends,

slowly but steadily the big prickle is coming up again. As I’ve had a break over the last weeks to recharge I must say: it was the right decision. I have taken part in some nice charity events and now I feel fit and highly motivated.

I watched the street world cup in Mendrisio on television. On the one hand, it ached to watch because especially the time trial track with ist many turns would have fitted me well. On the other hand it was very motivating to see that one can be very competitive in his mid-thirties: Jeannie Longo (50 years old) made it to place ten. Hats off! Great achievement. But don’t misunderstand me: I’m not planning to keep cycling until I’m 50. My great goals for the near future are the cross world cup 2011 in St. Wendel and the olympic games 2012 in London.

But these are still dreams of the future. The present is about the cross season 2009/10. And I’m really looking forward to it now. Under these circumstances I will race my first competition at the end of October, beginning of November. Until then I have much hard training to do. I’m going to fly to Mallorca doing some long training units during the traditional cycling week at the Robinson Club Serena. It’s always a great event.

After that, I’m going to join the race life. I have won the world cup last season and was second in the world championship. So it’s just natural that I am amongst the hunted ones. But I don’t take it as pressure, it’s an honor I have achieved by hard work and good results. And I want to continue that way in the next months.

See you soon – hopefully on the race tracks!
